Yes, you bet I copied 90% of the training from the Bulgarians for the second phase of the training. Why?
Remember, I have always sung praises to Abadjiev? And at the same time, I worship what the Russians and Chinese do too?
Recently I had a conversation with the Uzbek gymnastic coach and his wife (translator) said something along the lines of this, to me;
"When athlete, no technical, we train technical. When athlete, show technical is good, we must training power maximum. If athlete maximum power, technical drop, readjustment technical. Time, technical depend on athlete.
Time maximum power, usually 2 month. That why coach very very angry, girl maximum technical, no power. Competition, 2 month time. Maximum power but no technical. How win gold medal?"
I really can't see it being that much different from weightlifting, especially if we see it as a skill right? That's why I always put the strength phase for about 2-3 months only. Then I start changing my clients to a more Bulgarian style of training.
This has repeatedly proved itself to be a more effective method of training compared to doing the ...what most perceive as the Chinese method, all year long. There....isn't a Chinese method really. There isn't.
